The Pheasant The Pheasant The Pheasant

The Pheasant is situated on the bank of the River Chess on the southern edge of Chesham. There is a sheltered terrace outside, decoratively bordered by trellis panels and flowers and the garden is edged by the river overlooking what locals call "The Moor" - a recreational area used by football teams and walkers. Picnic tables line the river bank and children have a play area with climbing equipment, swings and a slide. Dogs are welcomed, however you are requested to keep them on a lead at all times (even in the garden) to avoid potential misunderstandings.

Since 1997 The Pheasant has invited customers to bring their own food. The garden is ideal for a picnic, and there is a large gas barbecue available for customers to use. Booking is advisable. Alternatively the best fish and chip shop for miles is just down the road, what better than a nice cool pint to go with that! There are numerous takeaways in Chesham, many of which deliver locally and we keep a selection of menues behind the bar.

We are open from 5pm Mon-Thurs; 4pm Friday; 12 midday at weekends and on ALL Bank Holidays. We are not usually open at lunchtime during the week, but we are available for small private functions such as presentations or funerals outside of our usual opening hours. Please phone or email for more information.

Our house charity is Great Ormond Street Hospital; my baby grand-daughter owes her current good health to their care and we are immensely grateful to Dr Hussain and his team for their continued care and support.

The snug is often used for meetings of up to 12 people. Booking is advisable as we have several groups who use it on a regular basis. Sandwiches can be provided, but a minimum of 48 hours notice is required. As with the garden, you are welcome to bring your own food.

We have a good dartboard, a pool table and a number of other traditional pub games such as crib, dominoes, bagatelle, shove ha'penny - and even a couple of chess sets. Although we have the occasional party, we are generally just a friendly locals watering-hole with a warm welcome and good beer. Great garden for the summer months and a nice warm fire for those chilly winter evenings........

My main hobby is German Shepherd Dogs. If you are at all worried by the dogs just let me know and they will remain out of sight - they are not normally allowed out in the bar areas anyway. I am a qualified instructor (BIPDT affiliated) and up until November 2008 was Chairman and Instructor for Chequers branch of the British Association for German Shepherd Dogs. We are a very dog-friendly pub and I am happy to help with any training problems or queries you may have.

I hope you enjoy browsing this website; it is all my own work and constructive critique is always welcome. Come in and say hello!
